Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18KOs) will put his undefeated record on display when he takes on two-time former Dominican world champion Javier "El Abejon" Fortuna (37-3-1, 26 KOs) in the headlining bout of a card taking place later this Saturday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Garcia is a hugely talented fighter, but in the last three years he has been limited to one fight in 2020 against Nicaraguan Francisco Fonseca, another against Luke Campbell in 2021 and Emmanuel Tagoe last April. The first two, he knocked out, while with Tagoe he had to battle 12 rounds.
However, he is experiencing a new push in his career, he changed his trainer and is optimistic about his fight against Fortuna this Saturday.
For his part, Fortuna knows he is not the favorite, so he fears for a 'robbery' on the cards.
"I have to knock him out. I can't let it go to the cards, because even if I knock him down several times, I wouldn't win on the cards," he expressed in an interview to Boxing Scene.
The Dominican boxer added that he will show no mercy to the Mexican: "I will knock him out and eat his heart," he told Fight Hub TV.
Fortuna already knows what it is to lose by controversial decisions of the judges, as he lost to Robert Easter Jr. and Joseph Diaz Jr. by this way. That's why he knows that this situation cannot be repeated.
