About Us

Traditional talk therapy may work for some individuals; however, for those significantly impacted by trauma, it often proves insufficient. Gateway Family Services of Illinois offers a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to address the unique challenges of stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues among children and youth in the U.S. Our diverse team of clinicians provides services across the lifespan, ensuring holistic support for individuals and families.

Our Story

Gateway Family Services of Illinois began with a mission to transform Central Illinois by helping people find healing from past hardships and hurts.  To fulfill this mission, the agency has worked hard to recruit and train clinical staff to address the complex struggles that come from navigating the negative impacts of trauma on the brain and body.

Grounded in developmental science and relationship-based principles, our program focuses on engaging and reorganizing brain regions affected by trauma. By addressing the root causes of mental health challenges, we promote resilience and healing. We recognize that effective healing requires predictable amounts of stress to activate the nervous system. Our highly trained staff skillfully navigate clients' stress response systems, providing appropriate levels of support to facilitate recovery.

Key Components of Our Approach:

1. Individualized Services: We utilize neuro metrics from the Neurosequential Network, developed by Dr. Bruce D. Perry, MD, PhD. These metrics allow us to identify specific brain areas impacted by trauma, enabling the creation of tailored intervention plans that meet each individual’s unique needs.

2. Intensive Support: Our program emphasizes collaboration with all systems surrounding the individual or family, including home, school, and community. By engaging these critical environments, we create a healthier support system that enhances overall well-being and success.

3. Innovative Methods: Gateway Family Services is one of the most unique programs in Illinois due to our comprehensive approach. Our clinical team has extensive training in trauma-informed care, focusing on understanding and treating the traumatized brain. This innovative framework allows us to implement effective, evidence-based practices that address our clients' complex needs.

Gateway Family Services is committed to providing trauma-informed interventions that not only address mental health challenges but also empower individuals & families to thrive in their communities. Through our program, we aim to equip them with the skills and resilience to navigate life’s challenges and achieve their full potential successfully.
