Jackey Murillo, LSW
Jackey, LSW, is a compassionate clinician whose path to Gateway has been shaped by a deep commitment to children, families, and the communities that hold them. With a background spanning child protective services, school-based intervention, and trauma-focused care, she brings a wealth of real-world experience to every family she serves.
Jackey grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and earned her Bachelor's in Social Work from Eastern Kentucky University, where she interned in schools and with the Department of Juvenile Justice in Lexington, Kentucky. She went on to earn her Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago's Jane Addams School of Social Work. During her practicum with Communities in Schools of Chicago, she supported students at Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy in the Little Village neighborhood — work she found meaningful enough to stay on as a Youth Intervention Specialist following graduation.
At Gateway, Jackey specializes in working with children and families, bringing a trauma-informed, relationally grounded approach to her clinical work. She is EMDR trained and has completed Phase I of Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) — a framework that deepens her understanding of how early experiences shape development and healing.
Jackey joined the Gateway team in July 2023, relocating to Central Illinois from Chicago with her husband, Steve, and their son, Ezekiel Gordon. In 2025, the family welcomed their second son, Uriah Ernesto. Outside of work, Jackey treasures time with family and friends, loves being outdoors, and brings the same joy and energy to life at home that she brings to her clients — including impromptu dance parties, drumming, and chasing whatever she's curious about next.
