Gabby Remole, LCSW
Gabby Remole, LCSW, is one of the most comprehensively trained equine-assisted psychotherapy clinicians in the country — and Gateway is fortunate to count her among our team. She earned her Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin and has been providing Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP) as both a mental health professional and equine professional since 2013.
Gabby's clinical training is extensive. In addition to TF-EAP, she is trained in EMDR, equine-connected EMDR, play therapy, and sand tray therapy, and has completed training as a PATH therapeutic riding instructor. She is certified as a Natural Lifemanship clinician and equine professional and has served as a trainer for The Natural Lifemanship Institute since 2016. She also serves as a Guide for Onsite Equine Therapy Adventures in Tennessee, where she brings her passion for intensives and outdoor therapeutic experiences to clients in a truly immersive setting.
Gabby employs a systems-based perspective to support children, teens, and their families who have experienced trauma. She is a believer in experiential therapy — horses, art, music, and nature — over traditional talk therapy, trusting that movement and "doing" are often more powerful pathways to healing. She also isn't afraid to bring humor into the room, knowing that while therapy can be hard work, it can also be joyful.
Gabby was first introduced to horses by her mother at the age of three and has been passionate about them ever since. She believes deeply in the power of the human-horse relationship — not just for clients, but for the horses themselves.
At Gateway, Gabby works part-time out of our Potomac, Illinois location, where the rural setting provides a one-of-a-kind backdrop for healing. When not at Gateway, she serves as Program Director and caseworker for a Texas-based adoption agency, providing casework for newborn adoptions. Her husband, Michael, is a fellow mental health therapist, equine professional, and the Founder and CEO of Gateway Family Services of Illinois. Together they have twin boys, Jonah and Levi, and more than a few furry family members.
