Potomac, IL – (September 25) – Gateway Family Services of Illinois is proud to announce that we have been awarded the VA Adaptive Sports Grant, a funding initiative designed to enhance therapeutic and adaptive sports programs for veterans. This generous grant will enable us to expand our offerings and provide additional support to those who have served our country.

As part of our commitment to veteran wellness, Gateway Family Services of Illinois will now offer both 2-day and 5-day retreats at no cost to veterans. These retreats are designed to promote physical well-being, mental health, and community building among participants. Attendees will engage in various adaptive sports and recreational activities, fostering camaraderie and providing a sense of belonging.

“Our retreats are a unique opportunity for veterans to connect with one another while enjoying a range of adaptive activities,” said Michael Remole, CEO at Gateway Family Services of Illinois. “We are excited to enhance our programs with the support of the VA Adaptive Sports Grant, allowing us to serve more veterans and help them in their journey toward recovery and wellness.”

The retreats are tailored to offer a safe and supportive environment, ensuring that every participant can engage comfortably in activities that suit their abilities. Meals, lodging, and all necessary equipment will be provided free of charge.

Veterans interested in participating in these transformative retreats are encouraged to reach out for more information and to register. No prior experience in adaptive sports is necessary—just a willingness to connect and enjoy the outdoors!
